What a Msingi CBE report card shows
The learner
Name, grade, term and year, the admission number and the NEMIS UPI, at the top of every page.
Each assessment
For every learning area, the score, the achievement level and its points, side by side for each assessment in the term: opener, mid-term and end of term.
The term’s result
The average for each learning area with its level and points, and the total points across all of them.
Who taught it
The subject teacher’s name beside each learning area, and their comment where they have written one.
A graph
Each learning area’s average drawn against the class average, so a parent sees at a glance where the child stands.
Remarks and dates
The class teacher’s general remarks, the head teacher’s comment, and the closing and opening dates.
From marks to levels
How a mark becomes a level
Teachers enter the score out of 100, or out of whatever the paper was marked over, and Msingi turns it into the level. A learner who scores 62 in the opener and 70 at the end of term averages 66, which is ME1, worth 6 points.
Averages are often not whole numbers. Msingi grades 74.5 as ME1, because it has not yet reached the 75 that EE2 needs, instead of letting it fall between the bands.
The level shows as the teacher types, before anything is saved, so a mistyped mark is caught on the marksheet and not on the printed card.
Questions schools ask
Before you try it
Does it follow the CBE achievement levels?
Yes. Every mark is shown as one of the eight levels, EE1 to BE2, with its points, exactly as on the printed rubric. A school can adjust the boundaries in Settings.
Can I print report cards for a whole class?
Yes. Choose the class and print: one page per learner, in one go. Positions are off by default, because CBE does not rank, and can be switched on.
What about Forms 3 and 4?
The last 8-4-4 classes keep KCSE grades, A to E with their points, until they finish.
Does it need the internet?
No. Msingi runs on the school’s own computer. The internet is only needed if you want updates or off-site backups.
How much does it cost?
One price for the whole school, from KES 10,000 a year. See the pricing page for every size of school.
