Offline school records, built for Kenya

Every learner's progress, recorded properly.

Assessment records, report cards, fees and timetables for Kenyan primary and junior schools — on one computer, with no internet needed at any point.

Works with zero internet Built for CBC & CBE One price per school

What it does

Built around the paperwork a Kenyan school actually produces

Not a general-purpose school system with CBE bolted on. The rubric, the marksheet and the report card were built from real printed sheets from a Kenyan school, and the arithmetic was checked against them line by line.

EE1 to BE2

Assessment rubrics

The eight achievement levels, with points, exactly as they appear on your printed rubric sheet. Report cards come out in the format you already use.

A whole class at once

Report cards

Print one learner or a whole class, each card naming the subject teachers and the class teacher and graphing the learner against the class average. Positions, per subject and overall, are there when you want them and off by default — CBE does not rank.

Admission, UPI and assessment number

Learner records

The three identifiers a Kenyan learner carries, kept separate because they are not interchangeable: your admission number, the NEMIS UPI, and the KNEC assessment number.

Generated, then yours

Timetable

Press Generate and a week is built for every class without ever double-booking a teacher. Then drag any lesson to move it, or drop it on another to swap.

Including M-Pesa

Fees and receipts

Fee items per class, receipts for parents, bursaries and waivers, and an M-Pesa statement importer that reads the messages you already get.

And who is slipping

Attendance

Daily registers, plus a list of learners whose attendance has fallen below ninety per cent — the ones worth a phone call home.

Recorded, not just printed

Transfer certificates

Transfer and leaving certificates with serial numbers kept on file, so you can confirm years later what you issued and when. Fee statement letters written for a parent to read.

Head, deputy, teacher, clerk

Staff accounts

Each role sees only what it needs. A teacher can enter marks for their own classes and nobody else’s, and that is enforced in the application, not just hidden in the menu.

To a flash drive

Backup and restore

Your records are one file. Back it up from inside the app to a USB stick and restore it on any computer, with an integrity check on the way in.

By USB, or online

Updates without internet

Copy an update onto a flash drive and Msingi verifies its signature before installing. A school that does reach the internet can fetch updates itself.

The point of it

No internet. Not "works offline too" — no internet at all.

Msingi was written for schools where the network is a phone held near a window. Everything lives in one file on the school's computer. There is no account to sign into, nothing to sync, and no check that phones home and locks you out.

Your records stay yours

The database is a single file on your machine. Back it up to a flash drive from inside the app, and restore it on any computer.

Licences work offline

You send us the Machine ID the app shows you, and we send back a key you type in once. No connection is needed to activate it or to keep using it.

Updates travel by flash drive

Copy the update onto a USB stick and Msingi verifies its signature before installing. A school that does get online can fetch updates itself.

Nothing expires quietly

When a licence lapses you can still read, print and back up everything. Only new entries stop — a school can never be locked away from its own records.

Getting started

Three steps, none of them needing the internet

Download it

One file, for Windows 10 or later. Nothing to install first — run it straight away.

Set up, offline

Add your classes and learners with no connection at all. A licence is only needed once you start entering assessment records.

Keep it, offline

Send us your Machine ID once and we send back a key you type in — no internet needed to activate it or to keep using it.

Licensing

One price for the whole school

Per school, not per learner and not per teacher. One price covers everybody — every learner, every teacher, every computer you install it on. Which price depends only on how big the school is, because a small rural primary and a large comprehensive should not pay the same, so the whole table is below rather than one number that would be wrong for most of you.

A year costs eight months. Paying monthly is there for a school that cannot commit to a year, not because it is the sensible choice — and we would rather say so than bury it. Whichever you choose, every feature is included: there is no cheaper version of Msingi with things missing.

You are not charged per learner. Two schools in the same row pay exactly the same, whether one has 310 on its register and the other 400 — you can see that in the table above. Enrolment only decides which row you are on, once, when the licence is issued. Nothing is counted afterwards, nothing is metered, and admitting fifty learners in May costs you nothing.

A school that cannot meet this should still write to us. We would rather find something that works than lose a school over it.
