Questions schools ask
Before you try it
Does it use the CAPS seven-point scale?
Yes. Codes 1 to 7 with the official descriptors, from Not achieved to Outstanding achievement. Grades R to 3 report levels only.
Does it work out year marks and promotion?
Yes. School-based assessment and the examination are weighted per phase and grade, and each learner’s year is checked against the promotion requirements, ready for the schedule.
Which languages does it handle?
Home Language and First Additional Language, named the way your school teaches them: English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, Sesotho and the rest.
Can it import bank payments?
Yes. Open the CSV from online banking (FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank, Capitec and others) and each payment is matched to its learner by reference, in rand.
Does it need the internet?
No. Msingi runs on the school’s own computer. The internet is only needed if you want updates or off-site backups.
