How it works
The ZIMSEC A level points, explained
A is worth 5 points, B 4, C 3, D 2 and E 1. O (an O level pass) and F are worth none. The points of the best three subjects are added up, so 15 is the most a student can score. Communication Skills is not counted.
Universities count A level points this way for admission, each with its own cut-off. The mark ranges here are school defaults, since ZIMSEC does not publish fixed ones.
How many points is an A at A level?
Five. B is 4, C is 3, D is 2 and E is 1.
What is the highest number of A level points?
15, from an A in each of three subjects.
Does Communication Skills count?
No. Only the three best main subjects are added up.
Is this ZIMSEC’s calculator?
No. It is a free tool by Msingi. Each university sets its own entry points.
Msingi does this for every learner
Teachers enter marks once. Grades, points, positions and the report card for a whole class come out, the way Zimbabwe schools print them.
