How it works
The School Certificate grading, explained
The School Certificate grades each subject from 1 to 9: 1 and 2 are distinctions, 3 to 6 credits, 7 and 8 passes and 9 a fail. Each grade counts as its number, and the best six subjects add up to the aggregate. Lower is better.
The mark ranges here are the defaults schools commonly use for their own exams in Grades 7 to 11; a school can change them in Msingi.
How is the SC aggregate worked out?
Add up the grades of the best six subjects. Six grade 1s give 6, the best possible.
What is a credit?
Grades 3 to 6. Grades 1 and 2 are distinctions.
Which grades does this cover?
Grades 7 to 11, the classes heading for the School Certificate. HSC (Grades 12 and 13) is graded A* to E.
Is this the MES’s calculator?
No. It is a free tool by Msingi and cannot predict an MES result.
Msingi does this for every learner
Teachers enter marks once. Grades, aggregate, positions and the report card for a whole class come out, the way Mauritius schools print them.
